Howard Laufer (Building 7)
Candidate for Huntington Lakes Section 1 Board of Directors
Thank you for taking the time to read this short Bio about me and why I am asking for your vote to become your representative as a Board Member. I used to live up north in Whitestone Queens NY. I moved to Huntington Lakes several years ago mostly to look after my parents who live in Section 5. It seems every day there is another doctor that they need to go to and I am glad that I am here and able to help them.
Why Choose me:
I believe my background in
Construction and Building Maintenance will be an asset to both you and our
Condo Board. I have owned and operated several
businesses throughout my career including a Burglar Alarm & Fire Alarm
company, and Building Construction Companies.
I have had many employees and clients and I have learned how to treat
people with respect. I have extensive
knowledge using computer programs like Word, Excel, Adobe, QuickBooks
accounting software, and specialized construction software just to name a
few. I am considered a “Techie” as my background
in security and fire systems has given me knowledge in installing and using electronics. I have built my own computers from
components, and my condo unit is widely controlled by Amazon’s Alexa. Every time I leave my home, Alexa turns off
my main water valve, shuts off my water heater, and raises my thermostat.
What I believe in:
Total transparency. If you have taken the time to attend a Workshop meeting, a Board meeting, either in person or by Zoom, you should be able to Clearly Hear and understand what’s going on, and participate when able. I have attended several of our past meetings and I was unable to hear either because Board members are quietly speaking among themselves, or a terrible echo during the Zoom meeting made it almost impossible to understand anything that was being discussed.
Treating others with respect. I would truly listen to your concerns and or ideas of how we can improve our community. I was taught that you should treat people in the same manner that you would want to be treated yourself.
Having a real legitimate budget. We should not be provided with unrealistically low budgets which are then followed by Special Assessments. Many of our fellow association members are on fixed incomes and need to plan expenses for the full year without getting blind-sided by special assessments caused by bad condo budgeting.
Proactive maintenance. It is important to address issues as they arise, but I also feel that Preventative Maintenance is needed to limit the need for reactionary maintenance issues when things break.
Honesty,
trustworthiness, and integrity. I was trusted by my clients to keep their
homes, families and valuables safe. When
I was given this level of trust, I felt obligated to go over and beyond, to
make sure I was doing my best. I have
had construction projects that for one reason or another cost me more to
complete than anticipated. However, I always completed the projects without
cutting corners. When I agree to do a
project at a set price it must get completed.
I hope you will also provide
me with your trust. Thank you for your consideration
to allow me to represent you as a Board Member.
Sincerely,
Howard Laufer
